Get on your bike!
Dear Golden Care Members,
How’s your return to work going? Do you have the opportunity to enjoy the good weather when you are travelling? Do you feel hemmed in on public transport or in your car?
This week we offer you a new way to combine well-being, the environment and work: the “bike2work”, which means cycling to work. A trend that was developed a few years ago and which continues to delight many. Do you know why?
These articles will help you understand this phenomenon, its advantages and, if they appeal to you, you’ll find some tips on how to prepare to cycle to work.
The word “bike2work” appeared in the 2000’s and is simply a contraction of “bike” and “work” which represents a person cycling to work. This article explains the origin of this word, its progression and also how it has come to be recognised by scientists.
This new practice is a huge success for many reasons: improving mental and physical health, saving time and money and protecting the environment. Any excuse to cycle to work is good.
If you’ve been won over, it’s not enough to just get a bike. Indeed, to ride a “bike2work” is not a spur of the moment activity. It requires you to prepare and equip yourself. This article covers everything for you, so let it be your guide.
“The day I realized that my journey between home and work was no longer a constraint but a real pleasure, I realized that the bicycle could be much more than a simple means of transport“.
Jérôme Sorrel, author of the book “Vélotaf, mode d’emploi du vélo au quotidien“.
So, pedal away!
