Taste your life!

Dear Golden Care Members,

What if we took advantage of this period of renewal to think about our tastes? Has this recovery led you to think about what you like? Or on the contrary, has it encouraged you to try out new ways to enjoy life?

People experiment and try things out in order to understand what suits them best. And sometimes even when satisfied with the choices already made, they will try other “experiences” to satisfy new desires that they did not know they had.

Where do our tastes come from? How do we find them? These articles will help you understand how they work and the pleasures they can bring

The mechanism of taste

When we taste food, our taste buds, mostly located on our tongue, send back information about the flavour of the food via a nerve connected to our brain: sweet, salty, sour or bitter. And from this, our brain will decide whether they are pleasant or distasteful.  Our other senses, such as smell, touch and hearing, also play a role in increasing the sense of taste. So let yourself be guided by your senses

Agueusia: the loss of taste

Do you realize that having all five of your senses is a privilege? Without our senses, we wouldn’t feel anything, because it is they that bring us pleasure. However, some people suffer from agueusia. This disease results in a loss of taste  that can be temporary or persistent and is also often associated with a loss of sense of smell.

Taste life

And if for some of you your senses are less developed than for others, look at your life in a different way by focussing on pleasures other than taste.

In his book “50 Ways to Taste Life“, Christophe André, a psychiatrist and psychotherapist,  recognized in the prevention of emotional disorders, develops his approach to the taste of life by sharing small daily pleasures to be enjoyed allowing us to savour our existence from another angle.

So don’t forget: bite into it, enjoy your life to the fullest.
